Why consider it

  • Chantal says the kettle is made of 304 food-grade stainless steel, with an all-stainless-steel interior and no plastic.
  • Volume markings are inside the kettle, according to Chantal.
  • Chantal says the patented spout gives a controlled slow pour as well as a faster everyday flow.
  • Auto shut-off and boil-dry protection; it boils and switches off, with no temperature settings.
  • The instructions recommend boiling and discarding three full kettles before first use.

Practical tradeoffs

  • Small: 32 ounces (4 cups), with a 1-cup minimum per boil.
  • The instructions warn that the body, spout and lid get too hot to touch; lift it by the handle.
  • A 1000-watt base and a one-year limited warranty.
  • Chantal does not list materials for the lid seal or for the auto shut-off steam tube inside the kettle.
  • Not dishwasher safe; the instructions describe descaling with a vinegar solution.

Our assessment

This is a manufacturer-document review, not a kettle test. Chantal describes the Mia as 304 stainless steel with an all-stainless interior and no plastic, and its instructions ask you to boil and discard three kettlefuls before first use.

It is small, holding 4 cups, and the steel body gets too hot to touch. Chantal does not name the materials of the lid seal or of the steam tube that switches the kettle off. Its slow-pour spout makes it easier to pour gently and leave scale behind in the kettle.
